Hello, We have a domain "ad.company.com". Our workstations are named "wks1.company.com", "wks2.company.com", etc. and we have unchecked the checkbox "change primary DNS suffix when domain membership changes". All the workstations are pre-created in the right OU. If we join the computer to the domain manually (from Control Panel) using the "ad\userjoin" account, the computer is joined properly and the users can logon using a domain account. But if we join the computer using an script (using netdom or a powershell command) then the users can't logon using a domain account. We get the error "the security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship". We've seen that the manual join MAINTAINS the workstation name (wks1.company.com) and modifies the DNS name in the machine object with it. But, the scripted join changes this DNS name (ServicePrincipalName) to "wks1.ad.company.com" so, effectively, when the machine "wks1.company.com" tries to logon there aren't any matches and the error appear. Do you know how to make the scripted process for joining a Windows 7 maintain the name the workstation has? Thank you very much.
