Joining Win2003 Domain from Vista Pre-RC1 (5536)
I am getting the error "format of the specified network name is invalid" when I try to join a domain that is working from under XP. My windows server box is at work, and I'm attempting to connect from home by changing the domain of the computer. My computer name is already registered in the Active Directory (it was registered when I had done this under XP). Learning from earlier lessons, I set my WINS server to the same machine and leave NetBios enabled. To eliminate other problems, I temporarily turned off the firewall on both my machine and the server. One more thing, I changed the local security policy per the information in this thread. Any ideas? Thanks, Brian

I would love to get some help on this--this issue is forcing me to use XP. Any wild guesses on what to try here? Thanks, Brian

I guess by now I should.I've been hoping that the DVD would be here by now (so much for the "tight window" for getting feedback.) Downloading Pre-RC1 was a difficulty that I didn't want to repeat.

No change under RC1. Do you know who I can talk to that would have a more intimate knowledge (i.e. where the error might mean something)? Thanks, Brian
