KB's repeatedly fail
I have a WSUS built. Some months, all the updates download and install w/o any problems. Sometimes, I have to reboot and the updates install(Note: Windows is not prompting for a reboot). With the latest October updates 5 constantly fail on 7 out of my 23 Windows 7 Workstations. KB2687407, KB2687439, KB2687440, KB2687314 & KB2687315. I tried downloading them and installing them manually and they still fail. The installer starts, the bar gets all the way to the end, then says, this update failed to install.

Did you get any other information, error code, more description? How about the system and application logs, anything there that may give more information?Miguel Fra | Falcon IT Services, Miami, FL www.falconitservices.com | www.falconits.com | Blog

This is pretty much the same error for all of them....just the KB is different....thanks for the reply...I'm running out of ideas. I tried all 10 or 11 methods from Article ID:2509997. Product: Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 - Update 'Security Update for Microsoft Office Word 2007 (KB2687315) 32-Bit Edition ' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Additional information is available in the log file C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Local\Temp\word-x-none_MSPLOG.LOG. That log file contains alot of info, ~25Mb...too big to post on here.

It was our Host Intrusion Protection causing it to fail. I set the service to manual after booting into safe mode, restarted and the kb's installed successfully....let's call it lucky method 13..:-)
