KB976586 - Error in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 when unlocking a computer or switching users
I have this error: In a domain environment, you have the following: A domain user account that is named Account A. Also, the check box for the Do not require Kerberos preauthentication account option is enabled on Account A. A client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. You use Account A to log on to the client computer. Then, you log off from this computer. You use Account A to log on to this computer again after some time. For example, you use Account A to log on to this computer again after 10 seconds. From Account A, you lock the computer. Then, you unlock the computer.<<-- After reading the KB, and applying the hotfix, my machine was considerably slower when performing local network activities. This may not seem like an issue, but my local folders are mapped to a server. All my cache folders and temporary files are stored in these local directories which are mapped to a server share. After using the hotfix, I decided to remove it. Now the issue is back, and very unpleasant. I cannot use NTLM to the server, so any reassurance that this is being resolved would be greatly appreciated. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/976586?p=1 Part of my experiment here, is to test the workability of Windows 7, for a corporate changeover. Hard sell, with this, and coming from Vista Business 64. Please advise what you think is going on.Network Systems Engineer * Zvetco Biometrics * Windows Server 2008 R2 * Core2 6600 @ 3.30GHz * 16 GIGS RAM * NVIDIA 9400GT * **>>PLEASE VOTE POSTS AS USEFUL TO ASSIST OTHER USERS<

Since the performance is worse after you applied the hotfix, the most possible cause can be your security programs. I suggest you apply the hotfix again. Then remove the antivirus and firewall and reinstall them and check the result.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Performance seems to be up to par. I have had no issues since following your instructions. I will make a mental note and make sure I let everyone that has this issue know the resolve. FYI I was using ESET NOD32 A/V RSNetwork Systems Engineer * Zvetco Biometrics * Windows Server 2008 R2 * Core2 6600 @ 3.30GHz * 16 GIGS RAM * NVIDIA 9400GT * **>>PLEASE VOTE POSTS AS USEFUL TO ASSIST OTHER USERS<
