KMS Query
Hi,Have a query regarding KMS activation threshold. We are planning to use KMS for Windows server 2008 activation. In the planning guide, it mentions that activation threshold is 5 for Windows Server 2008. 1) Does it mean that i should have minimum non-activated 5 Windows Server 2008 servers before they all can be activated by KMS Host ?2) What if i need to activate only 2 servers using KMS ? Is it possible ?3) Also is it possible to change the activation threshold value ?Thanks,Ravi

Hi Ravi, Thank you for your post. For the questions, I would like to answer them one by one as following: 1. Yes. A KMS service must have at least 25 clients or 5 Windows Server 2008-based servers connect to it before any can activate. 2. No, it is impossible. Threshold value is a minimum number of physical computers. KMS clients activate only after this threshold is met. We cannot active the computers less than the threshold value. 3. No, the value cannot be changed. For more information about KMS Activation Thresholds, please also refer to the section KMS Activation Thresholds of the following document: Volume Activation 2.0 Planning Guide Meanwhile, I would like to share the following with you: Windows Server 2008 KMS Setup Demonstration If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
