LPD Service failing to Spool Jobs from LPRng
I have a device that is running a Red Hat based OS using LPRng to send print jobs. The device sends direct to printers but also has the option to print to a LPD server. We have printed successfully to Windows XP this way for years, however we are running into problems with Windows 7. When jobs are sent, I see that they are completed on the system that the job originated from. A TCP dump shows the job being sent and completion. At this point everything pretty much stops. I receive no errors on the Windows 7 machine. When viewing the spool on the Windows 7 machine nothing ever gets forwarded from the LPD service to the spooler. When printing from other systems to the Windows 7 LPD service, all jobs print successfully and show up in the spooler as they should. This appears to be an issue with the way that LPRng is sending the jobs. Has anyone run into this problem or know of a direction I can go in from here? Thank you.

Hi, From your description, I notice that only Red Hat based OS using LPRng has the issue. Please understand the Red hat is the Linux OS, we need to make sure if the LPRng on it can work properly with Windows 7. Therefore, I suggest contacting LPRng support to figure out the issue. http://sourceforge.net/projects/lprng/support Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support.
