LYNC 2013 - Secondary ringer will not disbale

I'm running LYNC 2013 and on the client installs it isn't possible to permanently disable the secondary ringer functionality, the option can be unchecked and works OK until the system is logged out, when logging back in it's re-enabled.

There is mention of this issue in kb2770885 which is to be resolved in a later release but the kb is a few years old now and I have the latest version and issue persists.

Does anyone know if there is a registry change or patch/update that needs to be applied to get round this issue?

Thanks

Hi EDM123,

Try to modify the registry as shown in the screenshot below.

Unfortunately the registry value shows the secondary ringer as being disabled. 0 value.

If I turn off the secondary ringer in LYNC off and back on it sets value to 1. I can restart system and value remains at 1. If I go back into LYNC turn off the secondary ringer value changes to 0. After a restart the secondary ringer re-enables but value in registry remains 0.

Hi EDM123,

I noticed that the secondary ringer checkbox is unchecked by default on my computer.

And I use the new client (Skype for Business client), can you try upgrading the Lync 2013 to SKype for Business client and test ?

Best regards,

Eric

Hi EDM123,

Did you test this on another workstation ?

Or Does anyone else have the same problem?

Best regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,

This is an issue on multiple workstation and for multiple users. I can't see anything in the policy that might be forcing it.

Thanks

I have the same issue with Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 Clients.
Editing the registry does not affect the client.

Has anybody solved it?

Thanks

Some of our users are experiencing the same issue.

Is there anyway to resolve this?

Thank you in advance.
