Laptop connected to office lan...but will not allow connection to mobile broadband USB

hi,

I have a 8.1 windows laptop (Lenovo t540p), and i connect to various corporate networks as a consultant.

These networks usually only allow access to the servers etc that i connect to, and internet access is not included.

This means i use a Mobile Broadband USB stick modem to connect to the internet.

However, windows 8.1 sets the lan as priority, so even when i plug in the usb modem stick, it will not allow a connection to the internet.

When i am using the usb modem on its own, all is well and i can connect to the internet.

Is there a way, i can be connected to a Lan, and still access the internet through my mobile usb stick?

Hi hardtail1969,

A multihomed computer is one that has multiple network interfaces.

If the adapters on the multihomed computer are on disjoint networks (subnets that are not connected by a router). There might be problem. Only one default gateway should be configured on any multihomed computer. The default gateway is a global configuration for the server, not a setting that must be set for each network adapter.

Refer to this link about Default Gateway Configuration for Multihomed Computers
