Legacy system access w/ Windows Vista or Windows 7
Observation: In Windows XP, the unsupported, but provided as a Value Added extra, NetBEUI protocol provided perfect access to legacy systems that were not running any version of SMB (i.e., Win 95, OS/2, etc.) Some of these systems that I deal with cannot be replaced due to specialisedsoftware running on them. Although the NetBEUI protocol provided with XP as an add-on will load and run under Windows Vista/Windows 7,and can see and talk to the legacy systems, reading the content of directories is partially broken, with bogus entries returned for much of thedirectory content.Query: Will there be a work-around or a revised version of the obsolete protocol add-on? If not, is there an alternative?
