Live ID breaks backing up over the network
I have set up backing up over the network and it works great with a special backup username i set up on the "server" computer. (server = windows 7 setup for file sharing) All my PCs can backup over the network to this server just fine. Now once i install the "Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant 6.5" the basic sharing breaks. I can get the Linked Live IDs working the way they are suppose to and even use the credentials to map network drives but backing up over the network doesn't have Live ID support and the default username/password system stops working, even if i share the folder for full access to everyone on the network. The computers will have full control over the shared folder, but the Backup can't use the login info you provide to connect to the folder, no matter which login info you give it.

guess i forgot to put a question into that :/ has anyone else tried using Live ID sharing on the same computer they dump backups to over the network., and if so were you successful or did you have the same issues?

Well I'll be ....Ill confirm this problem, though ti suprised me that Live ID was the answer. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 is the platform. If it _is_ the same problem you should be able to see the same symptom I did:if you attempt to open a share by UNC ( \\<NASDEVICE>\) do you get an access denied? If so, try again only this time use the IP address instead of BIOS name.In my case that was the problem: \\name\ wouod fail, but \\x.x.x.x\ would work. Removing _both_ Live ID and Live Sync fixed the issue and BIOS names worked again. If this is the case then your network backup is failing because the BIOS name of the destination NAS device is denying you. You can temporarily get around it by setting a static IP for your device and backing up via desitantion IP and not name.I should note thatI also have problems with WIndows 7 connecting to uPNP AV servers (aess denied as well) and this fix, hwil it workd on my CIFS shares, does _not_ solve the AV problem.
