Local Only Connection // Policy provider: windows firewall // Filter name: query user
Someone posted this problem in another thread however the solution didn't work for me. I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 issued by RPI. Before now I have never had an issue connecting to a wireless network. My home network was working fine up to a few weeks ago. I can connect to the network, with 99% signal strength, however I cannot access the internet. When I run the diaognostic test, the following is concluded: "Security policy settings on this computer might be blocking the connection" "--> The following policy might need to be adjusted to allow Windows to connect: Policy Provider: Windows Firewall Filter Name: Query User " I have tried turning off the firewall , and it's done nothing . I put the firewall back on and allowed Mozilla Firefox (browser of choice) to be an exception to the firewall, and it still has done nothing. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET MY INTERNET BACK? I have no problem connecting to other networks in the area, just not my home system. (which was set up by the cable company, and as stated earlier, I have had no other problems with.)

Hi, Thank you for posting. Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Please boot the system to clean boot environment and run World of Warcraft to see if it works. If it works fine in clean boot, please also check if there are any conflicts. How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 If it works fine in clean boot, please also check if there are any conflicts 2. Reset Windows Firewall settings to default and see if it works. 1)Click the Start Button. 2)In the search bar type wf.msc and press Enter. 3)Right-click the root Windows Firewall with Advanced Security on Local Computer and choose Restore Defaults. 4)When the promote appears, click Yes. If the issue persists, please also check the event log to see if there are any related errors. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
