Lost Internet Requires System Re-Boot
Hey guys, OK I searched for this, but the only thing I found was lost internet after resuming from sleep. I am losing my internet, even when I am using it. I will /release /renew my ip and still cannot get the internet to work. The network icon still has the globe on it and the sharing center says I have connection, but IE and FF can't load a page. I have also tried disconnecting the network device and reconnecting it, but nothing works. I am forced to restart my machine, and then the internet will work again. This happens about 2-3 times a day. Please help.

Hi, Are you using the dial-up connection to connect to Internet? If so, you can refer to the KB936835 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936835 Additionally, you can try to following steps to resolve the issue: 1. Open Device Manager. (devmgmt.msc) 2. Expand Network adapters. 3. Right-click the network adapter connected to Internet, select properties 4. Select Power Management tab, and uncheck the check box Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. If it is not a dial-up connection, you may check whether the network adapter is compatible with Vista and install the latest driver for it.

It is not dial-up, and I will check the power properties. It should be compatible with vista since the machine is an HP and came with Vista.
