Lost Trusted ODBC Connection
Using Windows 7 Ultimate. I recently got a new PC. I work at home and connect to my company through a VPN. I connect to a number of clients using ODBC to create Access Linked Databases, or to run Crystal Reports. Many of our clients use SQL Server Authentication where I must supply a username and password. However we have several that have Trusted Connections, and as long as I am on our company VPN, I can connect using Windows Authentication without a username and password. Everything was working fine after setup and I used the system for a couple of days. I then wanted to set up a HomeGroup to share with other computers here at home. I did that, and ever since, I no longer can connect to the trusted connections. I cannot even connect to my work (My Network Places) locations under the trust. I have to switch to SQL Server Authentication. I have chosen to remove the HomeGroup, but still the problem persists. How can I get my trusted ODBC connections back? I am at my end on this. I cannot find any documentaion that will help. Thanks, ChesterChester Bammel

Hi, First, I want to know the name of VPN client you using. Please check this article: http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2010/09/08/network-location-awareness-nla-and-how-it-relates-to-windows-firewall-profiles.aspx If you use Microsoft VPN client registers as a network interface and will get an associated Firewall Profile. As a test, you may turn off the related firewall setting in the path of Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Firewall\Customize Settings Also you may check the error code by following article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa937531(SQL.80).aspx Since this issue is a SQL related issue, I suggest that you may access Microsoft Corporation SQL server forum to rebuilt authentication with SQL: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/category/sqlserver The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
