Yet I still have only 10% memory, what can I do???Programs you are having problems with Error messages Recent changes you made to your computer What you have already tried to fix the problem Please, in the future, delete all the above verbiage when asking aquestion. It has nothing to do with your question. Two points: 1. Defragging deals with your hard drive. The term "memory" is used torefer to the place where the computer holds the program and data it isworking with at the moment. It's normally random access memory (RAM),but that can be extended with the page or swap file on the hard disk. The word "memory" is never used to refer to the space on a drive(whether that's a hard drive, diskette, CD, DVD, or thumb drive).Space on a disk drive is normally called "storage" or simply "diskspace." Calling disk space "memory" isn't so much wrong as justunconventional. In a sense, disk space is, of course, memory, but theimportant thing to realize is that the word is never used that way,and if you do so, you do it at the risk of seriously confusing youraudience. 2. Defragging *rearranges* what's on your hard drive, so that all thepieces of files are contiguous. It does *not* free up any disk space, So, are you short of disk space or short of memory? Please tell us thenumbers: how much do you have, how much is used, how much is free? Ken Blake (MS MVP)
