Lync 2010 Client showing Away Status

Hello,

I have a Lync 2010 client that sets itself to away and will never change to another status.  Nor can you change it manually using the drop down status list.   If you exit and restart the lync client then the status shows as available again.  This is only hapeneing for one user but is happening on both of her machines (desktop and laptop).

Any idea how I can get the client to revert to its proper behavior?

Thank you,

Matt

Hi Matt,

A couple of questions:

1. Does the user's SIP URI match the user's primary SMTP address?

2. Are the latest CUs applied to both the Lync client and Lync server?

Action Items:

1. Can you attempt to clear the cached SIP directory from the user's machine, and attempt the issue again?

Hello,

1. Yes.

2. Yes.

There are no errors on the client or on the server...  The only thing I can think of is that she might be logged into two computers, one at home and the other at the office.  But it is strange that she cannot manually change her status in lync.

Even if she is logged into two machines at once, presence should still be able to change and be updated to the other client that is logged in (see: Multiple points of presence).

Are you seeing any errors on the backend DB in Event Viewer that would specifically point to this user.

Other Action Items to try:

1. Try disabling the user within Lync, then re-enabling them.  Attempt presence change again.

Hello,

I tried disabling then re-enabling.  I then tried deleting the user then re-enabling.

Neither of those things worked...

Any other ideas?
