Lync 2010 and Windows Server 2012 Domain Controllers?

Our current Lync environment consists of 3x Lync 2010 servers and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 domain controllers.

Where do we stand on upgrading the domain controllers to Windows Server 2012, I can't see anything from MS saying this is or isn't a supported scenario?

We have already introduced a 2012 DC into the domain, it's a GC but hold no FSMO roles.

The system requirements for Directory Services (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412831(v=ocs.14).aspx) states the highest supported OS for DCs as 2008 R2.

One of the requirements for preparing AD DS when migration from Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013, would be to make sure that your Active Directory infrastructure meets the prerequisites. Windows Server 2012 operating system for DC shows up on the list (see link below). Im not seeing any official documentation from MS that specifically states Server 2012 DC for Lync 2010. But if its supported during Migration, Upgrade and or Coexistenceyou probably see were Im going with this. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Supportability is available for Lync Server 2010 on Windows Server 2012.

I have the same question.

None of the articles referenced in this thread indicate that Lync 2010 Server is supported with a WS2012 domain controller/global catalog server.

One referenced article in this thread says that Lync 2010 Server can be installed *on* a ws2012 member server.  Another talks about Lync 2013 AD prerequisites, but neither discusses Lync 2010 Server with a WS2012 DC/GC.

Thoughts?

Any news ?

Is it supported to implement Lync 2010 in a Windows Server 2012 AD domain?

We never got an official answer.  I don't think it's officially supported, but the general non-official-MS-consensus seems to be that as long as your domain functional level is 2008 r2 or below you're ok.  we haven't yet added a 2012 DC to the lync 2010 environment in question, but we may soon.

Thanks, really need to sort this out.

I have a customer with a 2012 AD (dont know the funtional lvl).
The customer wants to implement Lync 2010 (reason, integration vid Cisco video conference that is not supported with Lync 2013 jet).

I dont want/cant propose/setup an unsupported plattform.

Hope that someone else can put me in the right direction?
