Lync Federation with Checkpoint Firewall

For folks having problems with getting federation to work using checkpoint firewall

After several weeks of troubleshooting with MS and Checkpoint, to get federation to work you have

1) add the edge certificate to the checkpoint box

2) When defining port 5061 make sure its definied a regular port, we had it defined for SIP, which apparenly stripped the SSL traffic.

Hope this helps someone =D

Yeah.. This is correct. Apart from that if you need to have full features for Federation you need to Open several Ports apart from these SIP. You may need

443: Client to server SIP traffic for remote user access

5061: Federation and connectivity with a hosted Exchange service

50,000-59,999: Media exchange, Application sharing/desktop sharing and File transfer
