Lync is unstable in Mac

I have been using Lync for a while in Mac and it is unstable. Below are my concerns

  1. Crashes very often with error report.
  2. Keeps on asking me for password again and again though I select Save password.
  3. Unable to join meetings.

Any plans to update the software? Or any open source clients Microsoft want to refer to use as alternative for Lync?

I tried Adium with SIP plugin it is working lot better than basic Lync functionality but still it provides only basic features.

Thanks,

Prathap

Hi svap.reddy,

I would like to collect the following information to troubleshoot your problem.

1. Whats the Lync version that youre using ?

2. Whats the OS version ?

3. Whats the error information when Lync client crashes ?

4. Can you please describe how you cannot join a meeting ?

About the second issue, please try deleting the Lync Data folder in Documents>Microsoft User Data, then restart the Lync client to test.

Best regards,

Eric

Prathap,

Everyone has problems with Lync for mac.  it's a common issue that you're not alone with.

We have some scripts internally that we use to do a full uninstall of the client, along with all of the keychain entries and residual files - and we frequently have to to a FULL UNINSTALL -> FULL REINSTALL.    This should rsolve your "password prompts."   For some reason, the Lync cleint did not successfully write to a key to save the password when the password is 'saved.'

Also, if you keep getting prompted - are you using On-prem Lync w/ Office 365 Exchange, per chance?

Also, there is a new FEB 2015 Lync server update that has many fixes to the Lync Web App.

If you are running the Lync mac client - I recommend that users join the conference using LWA as the experience is much better (use Safari as opposed to Chrome for now, until you can confirm that you are on the Feb 2015 CU)
