Lync with 3rd Party Voicemail

Hi all,

I'm attempting to integrate Lync with a 3rd party SIP based voicemail.  I have created a route in Lync (and voice policy, etc) and when I dial 7777 (which I made for it), It will call and connect, DTMF works, etc.

I'm trying to get Lync to forward calls to it with proper integration.  When I use the forwarding after x number of second on the client, it does go to the voicemail server but there's nothing in the SIP header that has any Diversion or History-Info to show that it's a no-answer call.

I know this is not supported in any way but just trying to see if it's possible to do.

MWI would also be cool but I've searched and doesn't look like that'll work for the voicemail to send a SIP notify to Lync and have lync notify the clients.

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi,

you cannot change SIP headrs that Lync Use. only thing is that you have to make sure that the application that you use trying to integrate with the Lync Server is capable to handle those messages.

Run a wireshark trace and see what are the information getting passed by the client and try getting your application to function according to those events. if not you won't be able to work this out.

Hi Andrew,

The only supported voicemail platform for Lync is Exchange Unified Messaging.

Creating Lync call forwarding scenarios to your 3rd party voicemail server won't generate the required SIP messages to mark the calls as having been diverted to voicemail, as you've discovered.

Is there a way to forward the call out of the Lync environment to a voice mail system, and carrying over the digits of the number?  Using a TDM gateway type scenario.  We need voicemail but do not have exchange.  The users use hosted mail.  The hosted mail company does not support voice mail.  We need to find an alternative for the users in this location.  Basically the company wants to mimic a TDM type environment, not so much based on a user but based on the phone numbers.  Any ideas?  Many years ago we used the D41D cards......

To provide voice mail to Lync Enterprise Voice users, the only supported solution is to use Exchange Unified Messaging.

I know this is an old post but thought I would add to it for others information.

It is possible to write your own voicemail application to use with Lync 2013 and avoid the requirement for exchange UM. We have done it with a couple of days hacking away.

This can be done via the Lync API's and MSPL scripts. The API's and scripts are supported by MS, but the scripts you write with them are not.

Cheers, Simon.

Hi Simon,

I am tasked to integrate the third party Voicemail via SIP protocol to Lync and looks like you have done that. Can you please let me know more details on that. I will be very thankful to you if you can share your MSPL scripts and guide on Lync API's. I can be reachable via patel77 at gmail dot com.

Many thanks,

Simon,

Much like Patel, I'd like to see what you did and see how successful you were with it.

Is there a possibility to have UCMA application to receive SIP MWI Subsribe message and send MWI notification?
