Can you elaborate on "Changes pages"? What do you mean by this? Can you confirm "Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool" is the monthly windows update you have applied. What realtime antivirus software do you have installed? Cheers,

Hi, I am sorry as I don't understand much about computers but here is a description of what happens: One of the oldest and most common spyware tricks is to automatically change your Web browser's default or start-up homepage – the page that first appears when you start your browser or click the "home" button. You end up in a same strange site, whenever you perform a search. Your firewall and antivirus programs are frequently turned off automatically. Your network connection's activity lights blink a lot, when you are not actively doing anything on the internet. You are unable to stop the excessive popup windows that appears from nowhere. Your computer (not just your connection speed) slows down significantly whether online or offline. Strange icons and new shortcuts lurking in your taskbar, system tray or on your desktop. You find new programs in the add/remove programs of your control panel which you don't ever remember installing. Thanks for replying. CCBLUE

Hi CCBLUE, Firstly You should only have 1 realtime virus scanner installed, else you will suffer from poor performance, and possibly problems/errors as they conflict. I would reccommend keeping Microsoft Security Essentials in favour of Avast (a personal opinion based on detection rates) If you also have Windows Defender installed, then check this is disabled as outlined here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/msestart/thread/5309cb8d-02e1-40e8-974f-0dcedb9ab9fd Secondly, you should have installed all critical security updates from the Microsoft update site. I would then reccommend Malwarebytes Antimalware from www.malwarebytes.org as a secondary scanner for malware. The free version does not run in realtime, so is perfect for this. Your listed response I can find via google as an examples of what malware does, eg http://www.malwarehelp.org/symptoms-of-infection.html but can you be more specific in your case ie: Fonts change- On the desktop? Word? Web Browser? Pages keep changing- Do you get unwanted pop-up webpages? etc Do you have "new programs in the add/remove programs of your control panel which you don't ever remember installing."? Otherwise I am afraid I can only offer generic answers for a generic question ;-) Cheers,
