Hello, I was wondering is there anyway I can send messages to another computer using msg.exe? I looked at other posts in this forum, but most of them talk about using msg.exe through a server and unfortunately I have 4 computers setup on the homegroup at my house and none of them is a server. So again, I am basically looking for a way to send messages to my son/daughter on the homegroup Thank you for your time and help

"I am basically looking for a way to send messages to my son/daughter on the homegroup" Don't worry about none of them being a server, msg.exe would work for sending messages to those systems in a homegroup where all are windows 7, but it would rather cumbersome when compared with other free messaging clients. Might be just as easy to install a messanging client like MS Messanger and setup a group on the client consisting of the users in your Home Group & then you can setup a conference style communication to them all at once or however you want.

I guess that is another way, but I was hoping for somethine different to work with, I mean I know how to do it with MS Messenger like what you said, I just wanted to learn it some other way. So you say, that msg.exe should work, any way to get a quick tutorial on how exactly would I make it work ( i mean with msg.exe)? Thank you

This does not appear to work. I have tried everything in this link and I still get errors about "Error opening Terminal server xxxxx" where xxxx represents the client I'm trying to send the msg.exe to. Something has changed and this workaround doesn't work, or there is another step/problem that is happening.... All my PCs are on a workgroup, not a domain

Vinifera. did you ever get msg.exe to work on a homegroup? I believe I tried everything and I still am stuck! Countless hours, I appear obsessed! I just hate knowing I can, but I can't!!! Please if you got it to work, help me out! Thanks
