MSTSC / RDP connection started asking for user credentials though they are saved
I'm evaluating Windows 7 RC x64. I'm using Remote Desktop connections (MSTSC.EXE v6.1.7100) toaccessthe Windows Server 2003 SP2 with a shortcut having thiscommand:C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe C:\...\myserver.rdp /adminThe remote server is not a member of my domain (it's in a workgroup). The user login credentials (a local admin user on the remote server) are saved in the mentioned .rdp file.In the past, whenI used this shortcut in Windows Vista Business x64, it accepted my saved login credentials and showed me the remote server console instantly. Nowthe remoteserver gives me a blank login prompt, so I have to type my credentials every time. The credentials did not change; nothing seemingly changed except for myOS.Itried updating the .rdp file and saving it with the credentials from the new MSTSC.EXE, but it still gives me a credentials prompt. How do I stop this prompting once again? Please help!

Thanks for the blog article link. Unfortunately, it didn't contain a solution. Mostly it dealt with the RDP on Vista, while I had an issue with Windows 7 RC RDP. Also, my stored credentials were not incorrect,my remote server TS did not have the "Always ask" marked, and nobody changed any group policy. However, I got the autologinworking again by first logging in with the same credentials to a background session on the same remote server. If anyone has the same issue, the detailed steps are here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprosecurity/thread/d7852d8e-1eef-4833-b010-a1e22711af21.Safecycle
