Major problems with my wireless internet connection.
Hi, My wireless internet connection has become really unreliable lately, continuously dropping off and slowing down to "dial-up" speed. It's extremely annoying, as I pay $70 a month to purposely get the fastest internet possible. I'm not sure whether it's my router, or my wireless adapter (which I have a feeling is the problem). The reason I think it's the wireless adapter is because downloading files from my phone (LG Optimus) or Xbox 360 is up to speed, and they are both connected via wireless as well. My NIC: RealTek RTL8186B/8111B Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) My wireless adapter: 802.11b WLAN PCI If you need any more info, I should be able to get it. Thanks.

This is one you will have to sort out with your ISP. It's either your ISP or it's the hardware. To determine if it's the hardware you will have to replace it. This is not a Windows problem and there is no way for Windows to diagnose the problem. This is either your ISP or your hardware. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Thanks for the reply. I called my ISP about this same problem a few months ago, they were pretty much useless, and they said that I shouldn't be having any problems. Also, I can't exactly afford to just replace my NIC, wireless card, and router just to see if one of them's the problem. Can you give me any more help at all?

You will have to do something at your location to troubleshoot your HARDWARE problem. I do not know of any way to figure out what is wrong with your internet connection over the internet! This a forum is for discussing Windows 7 problems. It is not a general repair shop to diagnose any manner of hardware problems. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi AtheneWon, Please update your wireless card driver to check if it works. Since you mentioned downloading files from the phone is up to speed, there could be the different ISP issue. Confirm with your ISP if there's any unstable issue recently. Rick, I didn't know where else to post this. Miya, my phone is using the same ISP, it's just connected to my router through WiFi. I'll try update my wireless card drivers though, thanks for your help.
