Malicious-crafted website crashes Windows 7
I visited this website by mistake (link below) when I mistyped a legitimate website address. The site pretends to be a antimalware vendor. This misleading web sitesattempts to make you think your computeris infected with a variety of malware. If you have a Norton 2009 product installed (I tried NIS 2009 & N360 V3)it will cause Windows 7 to crash with the following blue screen: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL *** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00004002, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x90C98F92) *** SYMNDIS.SYS - Address 0x90C98F9 base 90C95000, DateStamp 48fD3ac6 It looks like a remote Denial Of Service vulnerability on Symantec SYMNDIS.SYS Driver under Windows 7 since Symantec was able to stop the malware in Windows XP and Vista. Under Windows XP and Vista the website tries to install an ActiveX component and the only way to close the pop-ups on the site is by using the keys ALT+F4, since the OK, Cancel and Close buttonswill install the malware. Does anyone knows of a fix or patch for this issue?
