McAfee Total Protection Beta for Windows 7 is still not working
McAfee Total Protection Beta for the Windows 7 Beta is not working. It will not update. I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it today, but it still will not update. My internet connection is up and running just fine. The versions are as follows: Security Center version 9.3 build 9.3.143, VirusScan version 13.3 build 13.3.121, and Personal Firewall version 10.3 build 10.3.106. Also, the McAfee Virtual Technician that McAfee asks you to run before the install didn't work. It said it was running, but just sat there forever doing nothing, and my hard drive light wasn't flashing indicating it wasn't doing anything.EDIT: there is a temporary workaround while McAfee fixes this update issue. apparently, there is some conflict with Nvidia service running along with McAfee beta. The workaround is to go to Start > Run, type in services.msc and then change Nvidia to manual start up instead of automatic. Stop the Nvidia service, restart the computer, and then you can sucessfully update McAfee. This worked for me, however, on the restart, a strange message appeared before Windows 7 loaded.....the message which was boxed in the center ofthe screen which wasblack told me that I may not be using a genuine copy of windows and i clicked on confirm now or something and it told me i was using a genuine copy and loaded fine into windows...strange....is this normal, or anyone else get this message?
