Media Center & X-box Performance Issues
I recently purchased a new computer that came with Windows 7. My old computer had XP and I could connect to it over the wireless network "not" using media center and access all my music and pictures. With my new computer I went through the setup routine entered the code and now the x-box can see my new pc via media center. That's where the fun ends. When I bring up media center on my x-box it connects to the pc and downloads the alblum covers and then I'm done, can't play anything and occasionally I'll be able to get the list of songs on the alblum. Both PC's are in the same room as my wireless (G) router and not more then 20 feet away from the x-box. When I access my old PC without usng media center everything comes up very quickly and I can play all the music I want. Access my Windows 7 PC, way to slow and if I get the chance to select a song it just times out saying media center has lost the connection to the PC. Any idea what the problem is

I'll take a stab at this for some things you can try. First try setting locking your wireless router channel to 6 (disable auto) and turning off the frame burst in the advanced wireless settings on the wireless router. The other thing I have herd is that your new pc may take some time to build its index of the xbox media can take awhile to sync the first time used. All of this is conjecture, but most articles relate to your networking settings and what the finer details of those are can affect your performance in a big way. I would look at the Window Media Center site for the FAQ and how to's they seem to have alot of detailed information on the networking settings. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-problems-with-a-Windows-Media-Center-Extender-device Give it a go, you might also want to drop a line in the xbox forums for feedback from other users. http://forums.xbox.com/ I am using a XBox 360, a Windows Media Server, my laptops and desktop machine all wireless with no issues, been rock solid since I set it up, never had an issue, so the tech can work well.-- :P Advice offered, If you need more help it is advised to seek the council and advice of paid professionals. The answer is always 42, or reboot.
