Message 'there was a problem sending the command to the program'
Hi Each time after systemstartup, whenI try to open a file by double-clicking, I receive the error 'there was a problem sending the command to the program'. Acknowledge the error, either minimise or close the application and the problem does not recur (with any program) until the system restarts. I cannot install and do not have admin access. However, I do have some access to change Registry.Win7 Enterprise RC7600

Hi Derboy, Could you please let me know the file type? Does this issue occus when trying to open any files or a specific file?Based on my research, this issue is mostly caused by Office. Did you install Microsoft Office on the computer?Thank you for your cooperation.

Sorry I took so long getting back. I was under the impression the forum notified responses via email.Theproblem occurs with different file types. I know docx, xlsx and xlsm. I don't get to install anything. No access to admin. The laptop came preinstalled wil the lastest version of office.Could it be DDE?

My suggestion is remove and reinstall Microsoft Office. Also, you can try to post the question on Office forum to get this issue resolved. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for the reply.Thank you for the suggestion.Unfortunately, I do not have admin access to allow me to try to reinstall. I can't even do much to Registry entries. Its hit and miss. Some things work; some things don't workI will learn to grin and bear it until someone else sorts the problem:-)

Ok, removing DDE support from opening Word file solved the problem. I wasted whole day trying to fix this stupid problem. Office is a disaster with DDE starting from 2000 to 2010. Why don't MS get rid of DDE? Windows 7 x64 Tablet, Office 2007 ( with all latest patches)
