Migration and pricing
It would seem that if you only own an upgrade version of Vista and have migrated over to the W7 beta or RC versions, you will have to go all the way back and install XP when the trial isover to avoid paying for a stand alone (as opposed to upgrade) version of W7.Does anyone know if this is the case.It would be nice if Microsoft would let you convert your RC version for the same price as an upgrade license.Anyon know what they are planning in this regard?

Jim - Two things...1.) Upgrading from the RC to the final version isn't likely to be an option. Here's why. When you go to buy your copy of the final, RTM version, you're likely to be buying Home Premium or maybe Professional - depending on your needs. Ultimate will not be available at the retail level - or so Microsoft has said. Ultimate will only be available as an Anytime Upgrade. There is no means to downgrade from Ultimate to Home Premium or Professional. That said, you'll need to do a clean install of the RTM. 2.) There is a technique to install Vista (and likley Win 7) from an upgrade disk without having a previous OS installed. Google is your friend... So it really doesn't have to be as painful as it may seem.
