Mixed Windows XP Winows 7 workgroup network
I have a 6 computer Winsdows XP network where all of the computers were recognizing each other. The network was called "WORKGROUP". I am not very good at networking but eventually I got all of the computers working togetther. One of the computers started having problems with blue screen crashes so I built anoither computer to take its place and decided to use Windows 7 Professional. I entered an IP address in the proper sequence from what I used on the other computers, but there seems to be no place for the network name "WORKGROUP" or any of the other setting I am used to using in XP. I an using the latest Gigabyte motherboard with an x58 chipset & an i7 processor, 16 gig of ram and 10 2 TB hard drives. Is there anyone whop has experience with mixed window nwetworking who can give me some help?

Click Start, right-click Computer and choose Properties. A little way down the page you will see the 'Computer Name, Domain and Workgroup' section. Click 'Change Settings' on the right and then click the 'Change' button. Enter your Workgroup name, click 'Save' and then it will prompt you to restart.Alan Moseley
