Monitor goes blank after windows XP start-up.
After starting my computer in Windows XP, the monitor goes blank. I can see the typical start-up screens and the windows icon, than my home screen. But shortly after while files are still loading, the monitor goes gray. It stays in the 'active' mode designated by the green light, but after a few minutes will hibernate.I've been using a Targus USB laptop docking station w/ video to enable us to switch the mouse and keyboard between our PC and laptop. We actually use 2-monitor cables with this, one where the monitor is cabled directly to the PC, and the other from the docking station to monitor. Depending on which computer is in use, we connect the proper cable to the monitor. The monitor works fine with the laptop. I wouldn't believe the is causing our issue since this only started happening in recent days.I've also changed the cable from PC to monitor with no change.Could the PC have a virus or some type of software issue? Can anyone help?

You posted to a win7 group???Connect the monitor directly to the PC to test (no docking station or any vid/switches) & maybe update the graphics drivers from the maker site NOT winupdate
