Monitoring Security Associations Not Working
Hi Folks, I am studying for 70-622 Vista Enterprise Support Technician and going through the Microsoft Press book for that. I have configured Telnet to use IPSec using both security group policy and using Windows Firewall with Advanced Security (WFAS) Connection Security Rules (this actually affects all ports, not just Telnet). While in WFAS with a telnet connection established to another vista computer I am not seeing any entries in the Monitoring Security Associations Main Mode or Quick Mode windows at any time. Apparently at the time the book was written this was working for the author since the practices reflect seeing something. Thank you for your help! Rick Mays

Hi Rick, Thank you for your post. Firstly, I would like to share the following with you: Monitoring IPsec http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753765(WS.10).aspx Monitoring Windows Firewall with Advanced Security http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772146(WS.10).aspx Please try the methods above and see if it works this time. If the issue persists, please collect the Connection Security Rules on this computer and the computer you established Telnet connection to. We will perform some further researches. 1. Click the Start Button. 2. In the search bar type wf.msc and press Enter. 3. Double-click on Connection Security Rules in the left pane. 4. Right-click on Connection Security Rules, select Export List, assign a name to the file and click Save. Please upload the files to Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) and share its URL with us. Thanks. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
