Multi Boot: Win 7 Permission required to access other file folders
I just did a clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate on Drive D. Installation went fine. I noticed that whenever I start Win7 the drive letter specified that it is using drive C. Then WinXP is using drive D. However, when I start with WinXP the drive letter it is using is C and then Win7 is using Drive D - which is a bit cofusing why it is like this? This is by design. In Windows 7 your system partition will be recognized as C drive. However in other systems such as WinPE, Windows XP, DOS, the drive letters are not changed. Anyway, my main question is that I can not access the folders in WinXP (My Documents) if I am using Win7. So I have copied all these files from XP to Drive E. Now all of these files such as word documents can not be edited ("Document opened is in read only mode") unless if I save a new copy of it. How can I change access rights to these files so that I have authorisation on both XP and Win7 without having to save a new copy each time?? This is because the security functions in Windows 7. You can take the ownership of the folders in Windows 7. Hi all, I have a multi boot system here. I got Windows XP (drive C), Windows 7 Ultimate (drive D), and Windows Server 2008 (Drive E). I just did a clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate on Drive D.
