Multiple mapped network drives
I use a current model PC running Windows 7 32 bit. For the last couple of months one of my network mapped drives (U) to the 2003 Server duplicates itself (V, Z, etc.). Each day, sometimes several times a day, it replicates itself, I "disconnect"
from the drive(s), but they just reappear the next time I use Windows Explorer, or from any application, choose "open". I find that no specific event does this, however, I have multiple windows open most of the time, communicate to at least 3 servers many
times throughout the day. I am also Network Administrator so may have multiple remote desktop sessions with servers and/or users. Can anyone direct me on how to stop the replication? Please, and thank you

Hi,
How did you map the network drive? Is it mapped through script or manual operation?
I assume this issue is caused by the script or the deployment setting on the server side. Please kindly check it.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hello,
All network drives are mapped using logon scripts on the server side. These scripts are very simple, "net use
'drive letter': \\ 'path'
There are 4 separate scripts based upon user level, in my script there are 6 other users - only 2 with Win 7 - and no other user has this same multiple map problem.
The script has not changed for a few years, and this problem just started early in December.

Hi,
You may try the Clean Boot to determine if the 3rd party software cause this issue.
Also, check the OU which the policy applied on and the Task Schedule.
Otherwise, to logon with the local user for a test. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Hi Jonathan,
I have been unable to fix the issue, and Mr. Chou's reply does not solve what is NOT a 3rd party issue.
My network has MICROSOFT Server 2003 and/or 2008, user PC's with MICROSOFT XP or MICROSOFT Windows 7, MICROSOFT Remote Desktop, MICROSOFT Office, etc. Something within the MICROSOFT windows explorer wants to continually duplicate a current share.
It should not matter whether it is a scripted map or, as you have, a manually mapped drive. This problem has never occurred until I added Windows 7 machines into the mix. If I should find a resolution in the near future, I will post it for your
here.
Regards, Annie

the below is what i was sent by alex zhaozx did you want to try this:
Hi,
Did this issue occur to all
mapped network drives?
First, to eliminate the software
conflicts, please boot into Clean
Boot mode to see what the result is.
You could modify the registry
value of mapped drivers to see if this issue persists:
Note: please backup the registry
before performing the any modification.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software
\ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Map Network Drive MRU
In the registry value, you
could clear the duplicated drive path.
If this issue persists, please
try another user account for test.
Hope it helps.
