My Disk Space is Low and I have nothing on my computer to use all disk space.....I have Windows Xp...and im not as smart with this stuff as i like to think i am :(
ok here is the situation....i had gotten some kind of virus and had to do a system restore. that fixed the virus, but then my diskspace was at 1%. So i went through my computer and tried deleating things i thought i wouldent need, and found 2 backups that system restore had made. One from the recent restore and i also had found on from over a year ago. So i tried to delete them both as they were and i got the error saying that it couldent do it because the files might be in use. So i went into them and tried to delete all files in the two folders, but it wouldent let me delete all of them.....same message as before. I was able to delete some things and get my disk space to 15%. Ive ran disk cleanup and defrag many times, but my disk space wont go up any more than 15%. Unless hidden real well......there is nothing on my computer to take up that much space.....Ive even deleted such folders as the Games folder and microsoft money and such.....i havent installed anything on my computer since the restore.....and honestly i am frazzled enough i cant remember if it was restor or recovery......and im afraid i might have deleted somthing i shouldent of.... although all seems well besides the disk space. PLEASE HELP ME!!! i thank you in advance........1 person needs an answerI do too

If you have a sort of antivirus, like Norton or AVG, what could be happening is that the virus is trying to create itself again while the antivirus takes part of it away, this tends to slow the computer down and take up all the diskspace as the virus and the antivirus application are fighting. I've had this happen before. What you could do is go to the Program Files folder in the C:/ drive, then look for your antivirus' folder (Should be clear: AVG, Norton, ESET, Avast, ect), right click it and select properties. There should be an indicator of space that it's taking up, if it's abnormally large you may want to consider reinstalling the program.

i checked my anti-virus and it was ok.....im afraid a virus isnt the problem anymore, that seems to be fixed......but my disk space is still low......i dont have anything on there but what was restored or recovered by the computer itself.....im almost thinking i might have to mabey do a reboot or mabey run the recovery or restore without the back up? i dont have a XP disk to be able to do that though.....my e-machine didnt come with one when i bought it....since i dont have anything on here to loose, would that be the way to go? this has been driving me crazy for a couple days now....and if a reboot, recovery, or restore will work....i might need to know how to do that......any more info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
