I have windows 7 and 8 my computer. Windows 7 has no problems but with windows 8 my dune HD can't browse my shared folders. When I look in network browser it's always empty. I know they are shared because I can bookmark shared folders/drives to my home page on dune HD using windows 7 and when I select the shared folder from the bookmarked home page using windows 8  I can access my shared files in that folder. But I dont see them when I browse all network shared folders.

Problem is I can never stop using windows 7 because I need it to add the folder or drive to my homepage as a bookmark to be able to access it with windows 8. Windows 7 doesn't have this problem only windows 8. I can access the shared files and folders from another computer with windows 8, just not from my Dune HD (media player). the dune uses samba to fileshare.

And I'm afraid windows 10 will have the same problem because it's something that was changed in windows 8 in the way windows shares folders and drives.

I don't know if it was a new security feature where browsed folders and drives won't show up to prevent someone outside the network to see them or what

Other computers can normally access the Windows 8 share folder?

I never said Dune can't access windows 8 shared folders.

What I said is Dune can't see shared folders when using network browser with windows 8.

When using windows 7 and using network browser it will show all folders that are shared.

When using windows 8 and using network browser it will show (empty) when browsing all shared folders

The only way to access shared folders with windows 8 is to use a bookmark that was already created with windows 7 or manually enter all the information (Set the "Server" field to the server IP address. E.g. "10.0.0.2".) ect

So there's a problem with windows 8 sharing where the shared folders don't show up when using network browser.

Is there going to be a fix for this?

with windows 7 browsing I can see all my shared drives and folders. and with windows 8 it shows up as empty. but if I click on a bookmark on the home page that was created using windows 7, I can access the shared folder using window 8

Hi all, same here I can't access my Zapitti Dune player with windows 8.1 Pro. Windows 7 no problem. I have tried for days, have all permission set for sharing, my windows 8 laptop sees all my shared folders, but not the zapitti player, hope you guys can come up with something, very frustrating.
