Need active Directroy Help
I am a computer network systems student at ITT-Technical Institute in my second quarter. have obtained windows server 2008 from dream spark and am playing with AD/DC and DNS server. I have no registered domain and really don't intend to purchase one. I will have 3 computers connected to the domain, one running W7 and will be administering from here, one running XP and one running XP Pro. I need to have AD/DC set-up so that when I log in to the domain it is like loging into the local machine, all start menu items there, desktop wallpaper and icons, system tray icons, quick launch, taskbar etc. I have acheived AD/DC login previously but customizations where not stored after logging out and then back in.| Gateway DX4710-UB301A | Intel Core2 Quad Q6700@2.66Ghz w/6 Gb's of ram | Western Digital 640 Gb HDD | Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT | Dynex Sond Card w/5.1 Surround and Optical Audio Out | |D-Link DWA-552 Wireless Card | Windows 7 RC | Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 2 |

Are you asking to set up the capability where if you log onto one machine and set things up, that when you logoff and then log onto another machine, the setting follow? If so, then you'll need to set up a roaming profile.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc738596(WS.10).aspxPlease note that setting may not fully transfer from one version of Windows to another, so the settings in XP will not necessarily transfer to Windows 7.Also, you mentioned two versions of XP - what version is the first one? If it's Home edition, you won't be able to join it to the domain.

not necessarily, I just want to log on to the domain from either xp pro or W7 and have the individual setting of each computer saved when I log out and log back in.| Gateway DX4710-UB301A | Intel Core2 Quad Q6700@2.66Ghz w/6 Gb's of ram | Western Digital 640 Gb HDD | Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT | Dynex Sond Card w/5.1 Surround and Optical Audio Out | |D-Link DWA-552 Wireless Card | Windows 7 RC | Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 2 |

Have you joined the machines to the domain and created domain user accounts?
