Net Use fails over VPN connection
One Windows 7 Pro Computer is not able to map a drive to a SBS2003 Server via a PPTP connection (RRAS). From the same remote location other Windows 7 pro computers connect without a problem. After connecting via PPTP from a CMD box: net
use s: \\server\shared : fails with Error 86
ping server returns correctly.
I am stumped. Removed Firewall from PC; Turned Off Native Firewall; Logged in as a local user; no resolution. verified the following services were ok: SSDP Discovery; TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper; Computer Browser; Server.
What else can i do.
Once again a single PC has this problem; have run full virus /malware scan all clean.
since every other windows machine works, I removed the PC's filre wall and attempted to turn off nattive. No Luck.
any suggestions?

That seems to fail because of logon credentials. I am assuming that the machine you are trying to connect is not part of the domain of the SBS 2003 server.
Try with username and password during the usage of NetUse
NET USE J: \\servername\share /USER:domainname\username password
where
servername = the name of the server
share = the name of the share
domainname = the name of the domain where the username is defined
username = the username
password = the password

Vik

Tried that with various accounts.
Net use s: \\server\shared /user:domain\username password
with various accounts...
PC is in the domaine with the server so don't have to have domain but didn't work. the other Windows 7 machines connect with out a problem. The other PC's are on the same network as the problem PC. The server is remote and only the one
machine does not authenticate?
