Network Failure on Windows 7 Laptops
We are experiencing some very od behaviour from certain of our Windows 7 Laptops. When they are connected to our LAN via the wired adapter (it doesn't happen on the wireless adapters) they loose network connectivity after approx 5 - 10 minutes of even
light use. At first we thought that this was down to a particular NIC model, but we have since had this with a totally seperate make of NIC. Windows firewall is disabled and this happens whether the machne is a domain member or not. Also this does not affect
any Windows 7 desktop machines, only laptops.

Hi,
You can perform the following steps to check the result:
1.
Confirm whether the laptops are using the same network adapter.
2.
Update the network adapter to the latest version which is fully compatible with Windows 7.
3.
Double check if the network cable is connected properly.
4.
Access
Clean Boot to check if the issue is related to third party software or services.
If the issue persists, I suggest you can contact the hardware manufacturer for further help.

Hi Alex,
As mentioned in my original post, we thought at first that the issue was related to only laptops with a particular NIC, namely the Intel 82567LM, but have recently had the issue on a laptop with a different NIC, this time a RealTek one. All machines have
the most recent drivers installed and are fully updated. The network connections are solid, this was the first thing we checked.

I think, not 100% sure at as we haven't finished testing just yet, that we have found a resolution to this problem, we have installed the 64-bit version of windows 7 instead of the 32-bt version and this seems to have totally cleared up the issue!

Hi,
According to your description, it may be a compatible issue of drivers. But I'm very glad you have solved the problem.

Alex
