Network Mapped but Can't Be Accessed
There's a wireless network we just set up here between a desktop and a notebook (both running vista). The setup is essentially: modem => router (4port+wireless) => LAN connection with the PC, wireless with the notebook. The ridiculous bit is that you can access the laptop's shared files from the PC, but you can't access it in reverse! a) there is no "network" button on the start menu and when we tried to put it there through the customise menu, it just doesn't appear. b) Clicking "view computers and devices" through Network and Sharing Centre, the system tells me that it can't find the file specified. But if we choose to map the network, the PC does show up. Has anyone had this problem yet? Thanks in advance, D

Howdie! Have a look at the following document: http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/library/5ae8da2a-878e-48db-a3c1-4be6ac7cf7631033.mspx?mfr=true The section "Group Policy Scripts can fail due to User Account Control" should address your issue pretty well. There's a workaround explained there, too. cheers, Florian
