Network OK but no Internet access after Windows Update 64-bit
Every time I download and install a Windows 7 update on my 64-bit machine, my Internet access is gone after the restart. Network access is fine, and I can see other machines on the network. They have no problem with Internet access; however, after EVERY Windows 7 update, I have to physically shutdown (not restart - must perform a cold boot) and wait at least 45 seconds before restarting. Even then, I usually have to do this twice before Internet access is restored. Network comes back just fine, but no Internet. Same result when I start in Safe Mode with network access.

Can you be a little more specific on which Win7 update, or which groups of updates is causing this? You should be able to determine this easily based on the most recent updates which have been installed.

Do you connect with WLAN or LAN? Make sure the network driver is updated, you may need to update the firmware for the router, the router may be not compatible with Windows 7 so as to cause the problem. If the issue persists, I recommend you to perform a System Restore to previous state.
