Network Printing Setup Error
**I am sorry if this is a repeated post, I searched and could not find an answer** My issue is this, In Windows 7, I get an “Access is denied” message when trying to install a network printer. I usually install network printers like this... . Click on Start, Device and Printers . Click on Add a printer from the top menu . Select Add a Local Printer . Select Create a New Port and the type as Standard TCP/IP Port. Click Next. . In the Port Name box, type IP address of the printer (i.e. 192.168.X.X). Press Next. . Locate the drivers via Have Disk, Browse then browse for drivers. Click Next. and Install. However, after I select the driver for the printer and during the installation of the driver I receive "Printer Driver not installed. Access is Denied." The printer is online and I can ping it as well. System Spec: Win7 Pro 32bit, 3GB RAM, 160GB HDD, C2Q 3.0 Note: I have tries to install any printer driver via Windows Update and selecting driver from the list... All ends with the same error.

You must be an administrator to be able install device drivers. Log in as the administrator. www.computesimple.com for more info.

The user account has admin rights, the problem is easily solved by reinstalling the OS but I hope it would not come to this...

Hi, Access Denied error is mainly caused by permissions. It seems that you have not enough permission to install network driver. Please manually copy the printer driver to the local machine, take ownership of the driver and begin the installation. Meanwhile, during the driver installation, you could temporarily disable Windows Firewall and Antivirus software. Hope it helps. Hey thanks guys for all your help but I cannot spend more time on this error. I wish I solved this dilemma so if it were to come up again I would be able to fix it... FYI - I have tried to install it under Administrator profile and same error. I have not yet installed any AV software or any firewalls but the default. It's a unique error, I hope with my new installation I would not run into the same error.
