Network adaptor not recognised
Hi, After upgrading my ram to 2G and installing a 500G HD, I tried installing W7 today. It appeared to all go in and I can load programs etc. The one thing I cannot do is get W7 to recognise the network adaptor. The motherboard is a Winfast 760GXK8MB and the onboard Ethernet connector is described as Realtek RTL 8201BC. The CPU is an AMD. I have tried updating the driver off the DVD. I have downloaded one file from Realtek and tried to install that but the system would not recognise the file. When I look in Control panel at the hardware, it knows that soemthing is there but I cannot update the drivers. This is all a pain as I cannot get onto the Internet to even look up the help files. If someone could help me get this thing onto the network, I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Grgryhmltn,It appears your board is originally set up for XP, I would suggest looking for vista drivers for this board, if you are unable to find any, try installing the drivers in compatibility mode.regardsFaganIf You Find an Answer to a question, you feel is helpful click the link in the corner!

Hi, Thank you for your posts. In addition, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Please try to install the driver you have with Compatibility Mode or Run as administrator and see if it works. 2. Run Windows Update and see if there will be a driver offered. 3. If the driver package can be extracted, please also try the following to see if the driver can be applied: 1. Extract the driver package to the desktop. 2. Go to Device Manager. 3. Navigate to the NIC (or it may be just an unknown device with a yellow exclamation mark), right-click on it and select Update Driver software. 4. When the Update Driver software window appears, please choose Browse my computer for driver software, and locate the folder which you have just extracted, check the item Include subfolders and click Next. Then the driver will be applied automatically. 5. After installing, reboot the computer to see if it works. If the issue persists, considering this issue is related to the driver, please also contact Realtek regarding this.
