Network can't find printer
I have a laptop running Windows XP/Pro/SP3 and accessing the internet via a wireless network (Linksys WRT54G Router). I connected an HP6310 All-in-one Multifunction printer to the router, using an ethernet cable, and then installed the HP6310 software on the laptop. Using the Windows "Add a Printer Wizard", I selected "Network Printer" and then receive three options: (1) Browse - this doesn't find the printer (2) Connect to this printer - Name:______ Example:\\Server\printer - I probablydidn't create the correct pathname and it didn't find the printer. (3) Connect to a printer on the internet or on a home or office network. I don't think this optio applies, but tried it and couldn't find the printer. The HP manual did suggest that the problem may be a mismatch of printer and router gateways; I don't know what this means and how to correct the problem if this is the causeCan you offer any suggestions?1 person got this answerI do too
