Network password changed, but not working in Windows
One of our remote users couldn't change his password. I made sure he was connected via VPN and then hit Ctrl + Alt + Del and then Change Password, but it would never work, he'd always get an error indicating that the new password wouldn't take. So, while he was on the VPN I instructed him on how to change his password throught MS Outlook 2003. This change worked for Outlook, Outlook Web Access, VPN, and People Soft (all tied to AD credentials). For some reason though, when he logs into his laptop he has to use his old password. After he changed to his new password he hit Ctrl + Alt + Del and locked the laptop and then tried logging in with the new password, which did not work, and he's also tried changing his password via Ctrl + Alt + Del to both the current password and to a different new password and neither of those work. Can anyone suggest any other ideas? I'd hate to have to ask him to send his laptop into the IT dept.Thank You1 person needs an answerI do too

hi , jakefirst i have to know that is your Computer works on domain or workgroup .if you have domain controller you have to say to network admin to open " changing password possibility " From server if it`s not , try to go to this location on destination computer management - Local users & Group -Users - Find his name - right on it & then Set PasswordWe are the IT department, and we're not sure why it's happening. It is in a Windows domain. Since he is a remote user I cannot change his password in AD because there will be no way for him to get on the network to sync up the changed password. If I change it here, he won't be able to get on VPN because cached credentials won't match network credentials (I've made this mistake before lol). He reset his password in Outlook, so that's good. It's just the windows login. I like the idea of having him change the password in computer management. I'll run it by the other IT guys and see if they'd be on board with that. We have to be careful that any potential solution we try so that he's still able to work. If something ends up preventing him from accessing the network, then he's got to send his laptop in and you know how that whole thing will go.Thanks for the help!
