Network problem - browsing the web
I got a confusing network error yesterday. I can't surf the web on my windows 7 client. I CAN however view SOME pages, etc Gmail, Google Reader, IMO.im. But I can't surf Google.com or any other websites. And listen to this, when I launch my virtual machine, doesnt matter which OS (both XP and Ubuntu), I can surf the web just fine. I can use the internet except I cant surf the web. I can use IRC, play games (online ofc) and similar stuff, but I CAN'T surf the web.. it's so frustating! I created a bootable usb containing Ubuntu, booted it and surfing worked just fine! I tried reset the TCP/IP thingy with netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt (and reboot after that) but unfortunatly it didn't help (it didn't even create the resetlog.txt). Sometimes when I try to load a page I get something like BAD ENCODING as error message (from Google Chrome that is). Unfortunatly can't get the error message now. It tries to load the page but nothing happends and doesn't give the error message. I'm an experienced computer user but still can't get this network problem to work! Help is so much appreciated!! ps. writing this from my virtual windows xp

I just looked and saw I had "Automatically detect settings" checked under Internet Options. I disabled this and rebooted, but the problem still persist. I can surf Gmail, Google Reader and Imo (this under https), but I can't surf on any other website. I've tried different browsers, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox but none works. This post was also written using my virtual machine.

I just got the error message from Chrome: Error 321 (net::ERR_INVALID_CHUNKED_ENCODING): Unknown error. Anyone got a clue? I'm will try a wireless connection tomorrow and see if I can surf with that or if the problem exists even when using a wireless connection.

Hi Marwelln, If you put in 74.125.230.145 into the web browser does it take you to google or give you an error?MyPcHealth ------ Some Free Tools

Same problem as with other websites - it refuses to load. However, if I browse it under https it works. It's not all https sites that works tho. Windows Firewall is turned of, so it's not that and the router is not blocking port 80 as I can view it just fine using a virtual machine or my laptop. I tried a wireless connection - adhoc between my laptop and my win7 but it didn't help. Same problem. This is really frustrating... I don't want to reinstall my Windows 7...

Since the issue didn’t appear before, you can try to perform a system restore to solve the issue.
