I had a new system build working. I'm also using a dualboot system. Vista Ultimate x64. I did an windows update, went to work. System went into sleep mode. I came home and started the system. The system did a continious reboot after the logo appeared. I reinstalled my OS. Now I have no internet connection. When I try to install my drivers for realtek 8011, I get an error message. "No network interface card exists. Plug in adapter to the extention slot or connect a cable to ethernet network device if this computer enables deep slumber mode"My network hardware does not show. I have a builtin lan. Now I tryed logging into my dualboot system and it also lost internet access. This system has the drivers installed prior to the reinstall of 1st OS.Any leads would be appreciated. Thank you Contarerich benson

Hi, Thank you for posting. This should be a hardware issue. At this time, lets check the following to identify it: 1. Please check if the network jack light flashes or not when you plug the network cable. 2. Please try to install the latest version of the Realtek Driver. Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. 3. Please go to the device manager to see if the NIC exists. If there is a device appears with yellow exclamation mark, please try to apply the device driver manually to see if it works. 4. Click Start, type hdwwiz.exe in the search bar and press Enter to open the Add hardware Wizard. Then, try to install the hardware with the direction. Thanks for your help up front. I have 2 jacks. one never lite up even when it did work. The second did lite up. When I try to install the Realtek 8111 driver I get a error message say 'No nic exsist. I had the system running fine. on both boots. Because the main boot installed windows update when I was at work, it went into sleep mode. I turned on the system to the main boot and was in a boot loop. I can log into my dual boot. My dual os has the correct driver but does not receive online connections. I feel that the sleep mode effected both boots. I have a dual boot system. Both are Vista x64 Ultimate. Both were operational prior to the windows update applied to the main OS. The update was unattended. The OS went into sleep mode. When I returned thats when the internet service stopped working. I reinstalled the OS on the main partition. The dual OS was never changed. This OS still had the 8111b driver currently installed. Neither OS has internet connectivity. Both OS show the NIC hardware listed above.I did try to reinstall the driver you sent. It would be the 3rd different attempt at installing the driver. I used the method you suggested. The install of INF file is not supported.rich benson

Sorry, please try the x64 driver. Go to Driver_Vista_6216_0205\64 folder, right-click on netrtx64.inf and click Install. Let us know the results. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

I tried both. I even tried loading, from the motherboard manufacture, the intel drivers. I dont think they are installed correctly.rich benson

I will in the future get those screen shots. But I also have some more info that may help. When in Bios, I hit F9. It does not show my MAC addresses. Any leads.rich benson

Hi,Thank you for your update.May I know if the MAC address was shown in BIOS before?If it existed before and now it disappeared, and I also noticed that the device may not be in the Device Manger, we can conclude that the NIC may be damaged. I did not confirm the MAC address before. I would assume so since I had connectivity. Also right now the green light shows on the back panel. Thanks again for your time. Also if the mb is defective does my oem vista need replacement?rich benson

Here the update. I reset my bios. I removed my memory and rebooted. It found the lan finally. I got to install my drivers and everything is working. I say how much I appreciate the support teams efforts. Thanks for all your help.The bios did show prior to the windows update. There is an 8111 realtek update that I will not use on this build. rich benson

I just wanted to say thank you very much for replying with your solution. I to took a windows update and my lan stopped working and I could not figure it out. I plugged in one of my wireless usb adapters to have internet but this morning i was bored so i decided to do some research and came across your post. I did not reset my bios. All i did was remove one stick of ram, put it back in, turn on pc and was finally able to install my drivers once again. So thank you very very much for ending a frustrating situation. Props........
