Networking XP and new Vista Laptop Printing problem
Have a network on a XP desktopand a XP laptop and all works fine. Added a Vista Laptop and followed the setup but can't get the Printer sharing to work. The print server is attached to my destop XP host. The vista laptop will show the xp print server, is the default printer, goes thru a connection sequence and open the printer window of the print jobs waiting to print. Printing from the other XP machines works fine. Installed the LLTD responder on the xp Machines not sure if that will help the printer problem. What is the secret to getting it to print. I need a simple step by step guide to try to set it up again. I appear to be one of many people confused. Vista uses the terms public files foe shared, yet it must be set of as a private network, which is the confusing terms. They should have left it as Shared files and folders that can be Public to all or Private to allowed users. I think thats the big problem after trying to get this working. Looking for help on the printer.

Hello, Thank you for posting. The problem may be a little complex. Please show me more details about the problem: 1. What is the printer attached to? The Windows XP-based print server or a standalone server? If its a standalone server? Whats the model of it? 2. The model of the printer. Please also temporarily disable the firewalls in all computers and check the issue again. Thanks for your cooperation! Regards, Lionel Chen Microsoft Online Community Support
