Networking between Wirless PC with home LAN desktop
With two computer using Windows 7 I thought it will be easy to link up the two, but the problem I found is that the two computers can't find each other.I've looked at the Network Map, it's something like thisMy Desktop -----connect ----- switcher- -connect- -Laptop ----- Wireless connec ----Router Name---------- InternetSo the computer can definately see both computers. But when I try to set up a home network they just can't find each other. i.e. I setup on my desktop first, then when I go to the laptop, it just creates a new one instead of joining the other one.

Hi, Since the each machine can detect each other, we can conclude that the connection is fine. At this stage, I suggest you perform the following steps for a test. 1. Bypass the Switcher and connect the Desktop machine to the Router directly. Can the HomeGroup be created successfully? 2. Temporarily disable Firewall and third party antivirus program on each computer. 3. Configure the connection to obtain an IP address automatically ======================================= a. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter". b. Right-click the network connection and click "Properties". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. c. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click "Properties". d. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". e. Click "OK". f. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties". g. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". h. Click "OK". i. Reboot the computer. If the issue persists, please check the IP address on each machine and post them here for research. Thanks, Novak
