Networking problem between Vista Laptop and XP Desktop
Acer Aspire 5100 Laptop running Vista Ultimate, has built in wireless and wired ethernet.Desktop is custom built, and is wired. No routers, computers are wired into switches. The laptop and desktop are able to be networked and view eachother, transfer files etc....all through the laptop on wireless, but wireless being slower, takes long time to transfer larger files, so i would like to network it with the wired. So both desktop and laptop wired into a switch....Laptop can access the net, as can the desktop, however while wired, they cant see eachother, not even ping eachother.Like i said, Wireless laptop works fine for the wired desktop, but wired to wired doesnt pick up anything....checked firewall settings, as well as properties of both ethernet ports.any ideas anyone, thanks.
