Amith-The first thing I would check would be device manager to see exactly what the status is of the hardware. Is it installed correctly?Secondly, I'd triple check to make sure my speakers were plugged into the correct port on the back of the box. It's dark, you could have accidentally plugged it into the wrong one. It happens. Third, I'd make sure they were plugged in properly and turned on and the volume set to what should be an acceptable level. Kinda obvious, but... Fourth, I'd triple check volume control to make sure it wasn't muted and I'd check to make sure the speakers were the default device for audio - not S/PDIF. Right-click on the speaker icon and select Playback Devices - this should list all audio components built into the system. Make sure the speakers have a small green check mark on them. If not, right-click on them and set them as default.

Amith,Once you are done with what Wolfie2k6 said, I'd go back and uninstall the driver and install it in compatibility mode and see if that helps.

amith - Ok.. So if you boot into Vista, it's all good - and everything works, when you restart into Win 7, it doesn't...Now... You say you're not getting sound from Windows Media Player - but are you getting anything the speakers otherwise? The Realtek HD audio drivers should be, by default Windows 7 native drivers - and they should have been installed by default when you installed Windows itself. Look on the Devices tab. 5.) Look for the Speakers on that tab. Click the Properties button.6.) You should see a properties box for the speakers. At the top, there's a drop down allowing you to select the default audio device. 7.) Select the one marked Speakers (HD Audio Device) Click OK and OK. Try playing something. Let us know what happens...

amith,You can go to the realtek website and click the HD audio codec driver download link and get the version that says Vista/Windows 7.To install something in compatibility mode, you would right click on the install program, choose 'properties' and then find the 'compatibility' tab. Pick the OS version you want the driver to install as, then ok out and run the install program.

amith - Did you get any sound with the "generic" Win 7 HD Audio driver? On my Gigabyte motherboard (granted, it's an Athlon 64 based board), but Realtek is pretty much Realtek...)it and the speakers work brilliantly regardless of which OS I boot into (XP, Vista or 7).

The latest drivers for realtek are at www.realtek.com.tw, although until you downloaded from gigabyte and got that yellow flag, I'd have said it was working but under "playback devices", some other, wrong output would have been selected instead of the one you want. I just noticed I have two speaker-icons in my taskbar, one is white (win 7) and one is orange (realtek). Right-clicking on realtek gives me "audio devices". But now with the yellow flag, it gets all convoluted. I think I'd download www.realtek.com.tw generic HD codec, for (at least) vista, don't bother with compatability. run the set up program, and see if that helped; or uninstall and run set up again. After all that, assuming it works, left click the white speaker icon and choose "mixer".

Hello amith_angel,Have you tried browsing for the driver in your Windows Vista installation? When you install the driver through Device Manager browse to whichever drive contains Windows Vista and go to Windows>System32>drivers and let Windows 7 scan that folder.

HI GUYSi fixed the problem thought of sharing , you need to install the latest driver from realtek , delete all infs realted to Realtk HD audio from C:\windows\InfInstall the latest drivers , before you do this unplug the speaker jack , once the driver install is complete plug it back ,Realtek comes up with a prompt telling Plugged on the rear end hit ok .After this audio/sound was alright.

my speakers don't show up under in the playback devices tab :( I right clicked in the open space underneath the S/PDIF and checked "show disconnected" and "disabled" devices. I have done everything everyone has said on this page and still nothing. With
the Volume Mixer open and I play music, I can see that music playing from the little green bar-but no sound. Please help me!! This has only happened since I upgraded to Windows 7!
